MEDIA STATEMENT
Shire of Katanning Adopts 2026/27 Annual Budget
Last week, the Shire of Katanning formally adopted its 2026/27 Annual Budget which outlines Council’s investment plans including investment into the following key projects;
• Road and Transport Infrastructure Upgrades: Ongoing rehabilitation, resealing and safety improvements across the local road network, including works on Langaweira Road, Clive Street, Katanning-Dumbleyung Road, Scotchman Road, Beaufort Street, Police Pools Road, Coomelberrup Road, Bokarup Street footpath and other footpaths.
• Community and Recreational Facilities: Enhancements to community spaces and sporting facilities, including CCTV upgrades, completion of the Katanning Early Childhood Hub, new library carpet, Noongar story public artwork, upgrades at the Katanning Leisure Centre’s carpet & sound system, completing construction of Top Oval amenities, airport runway renewal, standpipe controller upgrades and saleyard loading ramp repairs.
• Asset Renewal and Maintenance: Continued renewal of critical infrastructure and investment in key plant and equipment to support long-term reliability and service delivery.
Shire of Katanning Chief Executive Officer Peter Klein said the budget reflects a balanced approach to meeting community expectations while planning for future growth.
“This year’s budget has been developed with a strong focus on affordability while sustaining services to a standard expected by the Katanning community. Council has prioritised its investments to ensure Katanning remains a vibrant and resilient regional centre. Council is committed to delivering value for money and ensuring that every dollar contributes to community wellbeing.”
