Transport and Licensing
For all Department of Transport enquiries, please contact Department of Transport on 13 11 56 and follow the prompts to connect with the relevant agency or service centre. Alternatively, you may visit a licensing centre in person with appropriate identification.
The Shire of Katanning is an authorised Department of Transport Driver and Vehicle Services Agency and can process the following:
- Vehicle registrations and renewals
- Vehicle transfers
- Driver’s licence renewals, including photographic licences and additional classes
- Licence applications and tests, including:
- Computer Theory Tests for motorcycle, car and heavy vehicle licences
- Hazard Perception Tests
- Practical Driving Assessments
- Boat registrations, transfers and renewals
- Number plate changes
- Personalised number plate orders
- Change of address
Department of Transport transactions can only be made in person by cash, EFTPOS, or cheque.
Testing Hours
Computer Theory Tests and Hazard Perception Tests are available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
Licensing Hours
Licensing services are available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, excluding public holidays and the Christmas closure period.
Practical Driving Assessments
Practical Driving Assessments are conducted on Tuesdays throughout the month subject to examiner availability. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Shire of Katanning or the Department of Transport to confirm upcoming PDA dates. PDA bookings can be made in person at the Shire Administration Office or directly through the Department of Transport.
Payment in person can be made by cash, EFTPOS, Credit Card or Cheque (payable to the Shire of Katanning).
Computerised Theory Tests (CTTs) and Hazard Perception Tests (HPTs) are available from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Licensing functions are performed Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm excluding public holidays and Christmas shutdown period.
Please note that Primary Identification is required for ALL transport transactions.
Practical Driving Assessments (PDAs) are currently being held once a month. PDA bookings can be made in person at the Shire of Katanning or through the Department of Transport.
