The entrance to Katanning is undergoing a transformation by the installation of a large-scale mural by acclaimed Noongar artist Peter Farmer Jnr.

The mural, located on the corner of Clive Street and Amherst Street (side wall of Style & Leaf Co) in Katanning, recognises and celebrates the Noongar story; past, present & future that connects the community to country.

The mural by Peter Farmer Jnr will serve as a welcoming statement capturing the unique story and character of Katanning.

Artist, Peter Farmer Jnr described how the Western Rosella represents colour and the multicultural Katanning that is now part of the fabric of the township. “The background represents colours of the difference in the land at certain times of the year. The lines are colourful to represent the vibrant township,” said Mr Farmer.

Work on the mural commenced on Sunday 20 March and was completed on Tuesday 22 March 2022.
