EXCITING NEW MURAL FOR KATANNING

Work will commence on the new mural from Tuesday 21 May 2019 through to Sunday 26 May 2019 at the back of the Katanning Hotel as part of the new Shire of Katanning Administration and Civic Centre.

This exciting new piece of art will celebrate the town’s industrial beginnings and its significance within the Great Southern/Wheatbelt in an innovative, contemporary style.

Western Australian artist Dipesh ‘Peche’ Prasad has been selected to paint the mural. Peche is an artist, illustrator and lecturer in Graphic Design at Curtin University and runs a design studio based in Perth in collaboration with his wife Shu. His artwork is characterised by a signature monochromatic style and he often incorporates pop culture, vintage illustrations, typography and patterning into his work.

The Katanning Mural project will be managed by art consultants FORM, who partnered with the Shire of Katanning in 2017 for PUBLIC in Katanning’s series of murals created throughout the town by Tunisian artist Karim Jabbari, Western Australian artists Chris Nixon, Darren Hutchens, Mel McVee and silo artist Brenton See.

You can find out more about the project and see it unfold on Peche’s Instagram @sofreshpeche and by following @formwa.

Peche welcomes and encourages the public to come along during the project and watch the mural process.
