Community Ranger Notice - Dog and Cat Registrations

Published on Monday, 16 August 2021 at 2:02:34 PM

Shire of Katanning Rangers would like to formally notify all dog and cat owners that now is the time to update your pets current or expired registrations. Please note that a microchip is not a registration. As per the dog Act 1976 it is law that all dogs and cats must be fully registered and chipped by 31 October of each year.

Rangers will conduct door knocking checks. If you own any dogs or cats please ensure all paperwork is up to date. Rangers will be happy to receive any unwanted dogs or cats for surrendering. These will go to a rescue organisation called A1 Wheatbelt Dog rescue based out of York.

The Shire of Katanning Rangers would like to take this opportunity to thank most pet owners in Katanning for doing the right thing and keeping dogs safely contained in yards and walking them in public on leashes with collars as per legal requirements. The decreased number of stray dogs wandering has been noticed by residents and regular visitors.

To check your pet's current registration contact the Shire of Katanning on 9821 9999 or pop into the Shire Administration.
