CHANGING PLACES IN KATANNING

The Shire of Katanning recently opened its first Changing Places, a secure and clean bathroom specifically designed for people who need space and assistance to manage their bathroom needs and for whom universal access toilets are not suitable.

The disabled access toilet includes an automatic door, a hoist, adult changing table and shower facilitates with space for two adults enabling access for carers. The facility is located at Katanning Lions Park on Blantyre Street and was constructed as part of the Katanning Welcome Precinct Project.

The project will improve overall access outcomes for people with a disability and reaffirm their value in our community through making public facilities more accessible and enable individuals with disabilities to better participate in everyday activities.

Access to the Shire of Katanning’s Changing Places facility is available 24/7 with a Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) assigned to eligible people or organisations via the Changing Places Website. An emergency loan key will be available from the Shire of Katanning Administration and Civic Building during Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm.

Katanning’s Changing Places is funded by the Disability Service Commission administered through WALGA under the Changes Places programme.
