Shire of Katanning Secures Major Funding Boost for Quartermaine Oval Upgrade

The Shire of Katanning is excited to announce a significant development for our community sporting facilities, thanks to the substantial grant funding secured through the Forward Planning Grant from the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund(CSRFF). This funding, totalling $1,206,789, has been awarded to the Shire of Katanning by the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries, demonstrating their commitment to supporting regional sporting and recreation needs.

The Quartermaine Oval Upgrade project is a comprehensive initiative that includes the resurfacing of the oval, installation of new lighting, irrigation, and drainage system. These enhancements will not only improve the playing surface but also extend the hours of use for the oval, creating more opportunities for community members to engage in sports and recreational activities.

Kristy D’Aprile, President of the Shire of Katanning, emphasizes that this funding represents more than just a financial investment. It symbolizes a dedication to the health, well-being, and sporting excellence of the Katanning community, ensuring that our sporting facilities meet modern standards and support the growth of sports in the Great Southern region. This project will greatly benefit local sporting clubs, schools, and community groups, providing them with a high-quality facility for years to come.

With the total project cost estimated at $3.6 million, the $1.2 million commitment from the State Government is a significant step towards realizing this important project. We express our gratitude to the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries, as well as all stakeholders involved in advocating for and securing these much-needed funds. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter and more dynamic sporting future in Katanning.
