The Shire has secured $100,000 ex GST from the Disability Service Commission administered through WALGA under the Changes Places programme. Funds received enables the Shire to build a disabled access toilet that will include an automatic door, a hoist, adult changing table and shower facilitates with space for two adults enabling access for carers.The toilet will be located at Katanning Lions Park.
The project will improve overall outcomes for people with a disability and reaffirm their value in our community through making public facilities more accessible and enable individuals with disabilities to better participate in everyday activities.
Additionally it will address access opportunities as identified in the Shire of Katannings Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2011-2016. The completed project will include two Unisex toilets and one disabled access toilet as described above and is estimated to cost of $250,160.90 GST inclusive.
