Town centre upgrade
Under the Royalties for Regions-funded SuperTowns initiative, Katanning’s town centre will be transformed by an $8.7 million improvement program. The project includes the creation of a commercial and administrative precinct near the intersection of Clive Street and Austral Terrace, and a town square in Clive Street.
An enhanced town entrance will be created off the Great Southern Highway along Clive Street. The town centre improvements will take in the repair and restoration of some of Katanning’s heritage buildings, including the Flour Mill.

Language and cultural support
SuperTowns funding also supports a project to build on Katanning’s multicultural strengths. A community development officer will be employed as part of a $255,000 project to investigate the feasibility of establishing new language and cultural support services, including a Language Centre and a Migrant Transition Centre.
More information about SuperTowns is available through the Department of Regional Development and Lands. The SuperTowns initiative is supported in the Great Southern by the Great Southern Development Commission.
